A new guy with a question

Hey guys, new here and terrible at introductions, I'll jump right into it. I'm putting together some investment money and should have enough in about 12 months to get a good kit plane.

I'm looking around at different kits, planes, designs, etc. The wing type that fits my mission objective of wilderness camping and someday, (eventually) a backyard strip, Is definitely a fixed-slat high-lift STOL type. I've looked long and hard at the CH701. I love what it is and what it does, but it's just so dang ugly. My wife is in love with the kitfoxes and I'd have a hard time passing a bill through her 2/3's of our congressional decisions, on a toy that she doesn't like. That, and it is pretty much tricycle-only gear. I've seen conventional gear on them and they really don't look right at all. I like tailwheels, but I don't want to sacrifice twice as much visibility as I need to during taxi, trying to use a plane that was clearly designed around the tricycle-only, very high-tail concept.

Does anybody know some planes out there with the fixed-slat STOL wing, but maybe more of a kitfox body? or at least something that doesn't look like a 701 hockey stick with wings when you put it down on a tail wheel?
